Testimonials

In my search for a “gentler and more peaceful” martial art, I came across Aikido. For me, Aikido is more than just physical activity. I see the “meaning” of Aikido in “self-defense and self-development”. Aikido combines physical (sport), relaxing (breathing, stretching, etc.) and mental (energy flow) elements in a single activity. In the Aikido studio, the individual pace of learning is taken into account. There is no pressure to perform or competition. The focus is on learning together in a spirit of partnership and respect. Aikido teaches me a lot about my character and my social behavior.

Aikido awakens cheerfulness and joy in me. Aikido relaxes me. Ideal for finding distance from everyday working life.

For me, Aikido is a balance to my top-heavy working day. Aikido training allows me to relax and recharge my batteries at the same time. Aikido also offers me the constant challenge that I need so that I don’t lose interest in the subject after a short time. The promise of Aikido, to be victorious in a confrontation without having to hurt the attacker, fascinates me very much. I learn something new at every training session. What I like about the Aikido studio is the large and beautifully designed dojo and, above all, the relaxed and cheerful atmosphere during training and among the club members.

Aikido gives a harmonious body feeling and a certain fitness without the pressure to perform of other sports which overtax or even damage the body over time. That’s why I think Aikido is suitable for all ages. Aikido, as it is practiced in the Aikido studio, follows a mostly holistic approach, i.e. it strengthens the body evenly and also promotes concentration and challenges the mind. Aikido also looks extremely elegant and dignified.

In the beginning, my primary concern was keeping my body fit. Team sports, but also the loneliness of marathon runners, are not my thing. Aikido as a physical activity and also as a teaching in self-defense appealed to me very much. Today I do Aikido for self-discovery and to further develop myself. Aikido gives me a confident appearance and a good, relaxed posture. This helps me, for example: very good at conflict management. Only over time did I realize how close Gérard Blaize Sensei’s Aikido is to my personal style and attitude.
Martin
I like Aikido because I always get to know different sides of my body and personality during training. In Aikido, my training partners show me exactly the patience that I don’t always have with myself. This way we can be happy together about our progress.
